Lets just say I am interested in posting a website with how-to articles on popular ATV's for do it yourselfer types.   The site would be simple with how-to articles and a forum which i would just use a vbulletin or similar.  Would it be better to do the web design myself, secure a domain name, host it on a server and let it run, or better to hire a seperate firm to set it all up and turn key it for me?  I have about 20 ideas at this point for sites that could be helpful and should attract hits but i'm going to need a lot of help throughtout the process.   Is this a smart way to approact this business?

I would do it myself first and learn the ins and outs of it. Besides, no reason to go spending money on a site when it's not even generating some revenue.

I agree, do it yourself, learn dreamweaver (html/css), wordpress, joomla and you will be building sites left and right in no time!
