AdBeat – Uncover Advertisers Online Strategies

While I was in Las Vegas at this past LeadsCon event, I had the opportunity to test drive a new data competitive intelligence tool.  In all honesty, I only used the tool for about half an hour however in that half hour, I was really impressed. The entire C2M team came over to the booth for a test drive as well. We sat there searching domains each of us owned and started looking at each other’s ads right away :-) . It was the fastest tool I’ve used to date to trace down competing advertisers.

Now before we get started, this is not a paid review. Matter of fact, you will never see one of those on the corporate blog here. I only review and talk about tools I’ve personally test drove and feel affiliates and advertisers would find helpful and interesting. With that said, I want to make you aware from the start that Adbeat is a PAID competitive intelligence tool. The pricing is simple and you can review that here. So pricing is out of the way, let’s talk substantiation. Check out this interview that Mike Colella did with Mixergy.

Adbeat is a competitive intelligence tool that allows you to basically look over campaigns, offers and websites running on content network channels. Google, Pulse 360 and Adsonar are just a few. A quick breakdown of what Adbeat provides:

  • The ability to browse ads with the highest impressions per ad network. Typically ads with the highest impressions means one thing — THEY ARE MAKING MONEY. By finding these ads you can quickly study the ad copy being used, create your own and try to do it better than your competitors.
  • Keyword Research within ad copy – This is a really cool feature. Input keywords to uncover ads from your competitors.
  • Advertiser Top Ads – Simple here. Uncover which ads have been running the longest and have the most traffic.
  • Browse By Ad Type – If there is one part I like the most. It’s this option right here. You can actually uncover your competitors ad types. Text, images, flash. It’s all uncovered for you. You can actually see all of the advertisers ad and copy.

When I look at these tools, I look for simplicity. I like PDF formats personally but also Excel if I am tracking urls. With Adbeat you are provided a reports locker which allows you to keep your desktop from being overrun with reports. You also get a destination url report you can access to download your competitor’s destination urls which in turns leads you to gathering their keywords and landing pages. As I said, I prefer PDF’s and Excel sheets which is what Adbeat provides. For me, I like PDF’s to see the image ads that are being ran. :-)

There are 4 paid package options with Adbeat:

  • Google Only $99 a month – Allows you to search Google only.
  • $99 a month – Pulse 360 + more ad networks
  • $99 a month – Adsonar + more ad networks
  • $199 a month – All networks

Obviously for me it’s the last option. I want to see everything they have to offer but for some publishers this may be pricey. It’s all what you want to do and how serious you are at your competitive intelligence.

All in all this is a pretty short review because I am not going to list every feature Adbeat has to offer nor am I going to ruin it for the publishers already using it. However, I’ve used it myself, the entire C2M team at Leadscon went thru a demo and I have to say I’m really impressed with it so far. If you try it out, let me know how you like it!

I was involved in the beta phase and tested the tool for my ppv campaigns. It’s not designed to work for ppv but you can get TONS of ideas (images, ad body, headlines) for your own ppv campaigns. So don’t get hold back just it’s done for media and PPC’ler ;-)

What ppc content network would you recommend a beginner to start with first, if they have not done any display image advertising before?
