This post really gets me going. A little over a year ago, Convert2Media was started. A little over a year ago, this publisher began his Marketing and Advertising Career online. Through the months going forward from the start, this publisher and I met and he began publishing with C2M. From the start I saw strong characteristics of a hungry publisher. When you have been doing it as long as I have and then turn around and manage a few hundred businesses online for people, you pick up REALLY quick who’s serious and who’s not. As agreed, I have permission from the publisher to write the following post but I am going to leave his name and specifics out for privacy reasons.
First off, this publisher achieved $1,128,000.00+ change in the month of June. An incredible feat by any means but what is truly remarkeable is that he’s only 21 years old and been in the business for a little over a year. I’ve had the pleasure of working with this publisher VERY closely over the course of his work with C2M and I would like to share some tips and characteristics about this publisher for the people who are looking to reach a level such as this.
I would first like to start out by sharing some of the things he DOESNT do:
- He doesnt bitch or complain. He understands how I run C2M and he trusts that I am going to get with him on any problems he may face. Much like I treat every publisher in the event of something happening.
- He doesnt post or read shit on forums. Seriously, this is THE #1 downfall or thing that kills productivity. The amount of disinformation on the net is ridiculous. I’ve coached, managed, moderated and spent more time than most in forums and even my communities to know that 99% of the people talking, are full of shit. He knows this too. The amount he earned alone, reflects that. When you are earning a million dollars a month as a publisher, there is not a whole hell of lot of people talking in forums that you can trust to take advice from. It doesnt make sense at that level to take advice from a 1K a day earner. (Nothing wrong with that number BTW, you get the point).
- He doesnt concentrate on trying shit that is not advised. Seriously, after talking with him tonight, over 90% of his income was with a SINGLE offer. He doesnt spend time jerking around testing. He utilizes his resources wisely. ( Such as C2M advice, his traffic reps, his intuition).
Some of the things he does do:
- He concentrates heavily on optimization. I dont think a single day has gone by in the last couple of weeks where he hasnt made a change to his campaign. He’s always concentrating on a higher ROI whether it being changing ads up, landing page critique or how to get more out of his traffic sources.
- He listens. Period. Enough Said. He asks a question, I tell him. He takes ideas and suggestions and he tries them out. We’ve switched offers multiple times in his vertical and he is never afraid to give something I recommend a shot. This takes a lot of faith because I have shot him duds, and I have shot him winners. In the end he understands and trusts that I am trying to reach the same goal he is.
- He has his cashflow in order. This is something that very many dont really get. I’m not going to go into his spend amounts but he has taken upon himself to better himself in terms of credit and keeping the cashflow going. This even means coming to me for early payouts or getting him money whenever he needs it. A lot of publishers are afraid to ask for that but you ABSOLUTELY must. If I know you are making an effort I damn sure will be more flexible. If you are screwing around then I’m the type of guy that isnt going to take you seriously. Sounds harsh right? It is.
- His work ethic is tremendous. This goes in hand with traffic, cashflow and optimization. He’s a robot that doesnt stop. I dont know exactly what his goal is, but I’m pretty damn sure he hit one of them this last month. Constant moving and building your business is what it takes. At 21 and producing those kinds of numbers, I’m honestly VERY surprised he still sits there and talks to me at 2 am and often beats me in the morning getting on AIM.
- He understands the Industry. He knows that this could all end at any time. Affiliate Marketing can be a crap shoot especially with FTC Regulations, Search Engine slaps, offer instability. He knows that he has to move as fast and smart as possible to make every dime he can, while he can.
You know, after adding up the numbers and talking with him tonight about this post, we both had a little reflection. For me, I remember when C2M started. We were the 300+ Direct Track network to start up and I took a lot of shit from many who said we wouldnt be anything. I know in this industry that I dont have to be the best to make a ton of money and I really dont care. C2M exists because of it’s publishers. Publishers who have stuck by us thru the thick and thin like this publisher. Knowing you had a small hand and getting the priviledge to work with someone of his marketing caliber is simply amazing. I thank you for sticking with us thru it all. I only hope we can continue doing what we do and helping even more publishers reach their goals as well. Hopefully with the upcoming video broadcasts I will be providing, we will get to have more monthly millionaires very soon.
People are starting to realize more and more what we are about. I would also like to thank Andrew Wee because I know he understands FULLY what we are about. To all the pubs who work with us, we appreciate you more than you know.
C2M loves you all. - Ruck

I’m still trying to get up from my chair on this one. Even my hair is scrubbed off from the impact.

Excellent post Ruck. With the Coaching Forum, the existing wealth of information on the old forum, the ustream broadcasts…etc.. it’s pretty clear that C2M is going to play a huge role in up-and-coming affiliates achieving numbers like these.

Hey Ruck, great insights into being a successful affiliate.
I bet that even after reading this post, there’ll still a bunch of newbies who’re still rummaging around for a “secret” to becoming successful at this game (or wanting to buy an e-book with step-by-step instructions on how to become a baller).
It’s sad that there’s going to be a bunch of otherwise intelligent people out there who’ll still not get it even after reading 100 more posts like this one (and the ones you’ve posted before).
All the better for us.
Woot!

INSPIRING POST. Ruck, quick question. Is this guy using the typical landing page styles (ie. flogs, farticles, reviews) and standard traffic sources (ie. google, yahoo, bing, facebook, myspace) or is he doing stuff completely different?
I’m wondering if he is doing an excellent job at the normal procedure or if he is completely “outside the box” and doing things entirely differently. thanks

Good stuff Ruck. I’m happy for both of you.

This is a huge feat for anyone at any age. But for someone who has only been in this business for only a year this blows me away.
I whole heartily agree about not reading crap from a lot of sources. I have honed mine way down to a very few trusted individuals.
This is totally motivational on many levels.

Great post Ruck! Always love your hands on approach to helping affiliates through coaching. It’s also been great working with you guys, especially when its rare to find partners in the industry that share the same philosophy to doing business. Continued success to you and your team!

Sick post Ruck. Besides what Steve just asked, was this pub able to build up his bank roll/ Cred limit within the year to be able to make this kinda money or was he doing well before? Either way, congrats to him and you guys!
July 3rd, 2009 @6:12 am
Great post!
@Steve - You most likely won’t see an answer.
July 3rd, 2009 @8:43 am
Awesome post and congratulations to you both!

That’s definitely one of the most inspiring posts I’ve ever read. You always hear all the bullshitters around talking about how much money they make, all while they’re sitting on AIM all day long, but it’s great to see REAL numbers like this.
It’s an amazing feat, and very inspirational to just about any Affiliate Marketer!

ill be hitting you up on your email with my new landers so u can critique me and point me towards the 1,000,000 month mark.
congrats to the pub for hitting this mark.

Thanks for the inspiration.

he gets it! awesome, everything you said was of course so true.

Great post! Thanks Ruck! More than inspiring!

You are right when you say that post truly gets you going! I’m glad I read this today, as I am willing to help anyone that is willing to help themselves in this industry. If it weren’t for some heavy hitters that helped me out when I first started, I probably would be still reading forums and out-of-date ebooks. =)
Let’s go C2M!
July 6th, 2009 @11:33 am
Wonder what his ROI is?
July 6th, 2009 @7:17 pm
@Lance - What do you define as “anyone that is willing to help themselves”? Curious.
July 6th, 2009 @7:40 pm
He’s talking about anyone that takes the innitiative and makes a serious effort at building their publisher business. I’ve trained him to not mess around with “tire-kickers” that signup and waste our time. Example is publishers who arent interested in working, just interested in what the hot offers are.
July 7th, 2009 @11:31 am
Ruck,
Great story. Was that amount gross or net? What was the ROI percentage?
Thanks.
July 7th, 2009 @5:29 pm
Ruck,
The person serves as an inspiration for us all. All of the tire kickers need to hang their heads after hearing that factual tale. The only fly in the ointment is some indication of how much he gets to keep of that million. If $999,999 of it is expenses to Google, Microsoft and Yahoo it is less impressive.
Given that, I’m truly in awe of someone with the fortitude to spend whatever it takes to make a million dollars in 30 days.
Especially in this market, under this stress, Any more examples? What did the second highest person make?

“He’s talking about anyone that takes the initiative and makes a serious effort at building their publisher business. I’ve trained him to not mess around with “tire-kickers” that signup and waste our time.”
What about the people who have a lot of financial ability that are dead serious about their business but need an effective path to make the most out of it? Any network who provides effective guidance in that regard stands to rake it in.
I would think any network that was serious about growing Publisher businesses would jump all over this and do whatever they could to get that person doing big numbers fast. It makes the network a lot more money well into the future for a very small time commitment in the beginning.
If they turn out to be a tire kicker or not take solid advice on how to kill it, cut em’ loose. It only takes 1 or 2 people who have a $50-100k to roll out immediately to add 7 figs a year to your network pretty much on auto pilot.
July 8th, 2009 @11:20 am
Out of privacy and confidentiality, what is in the post is what will be revealed. As for expenses, I’ll enlighten you that his average epc for the month was $3.47 overall. We will leave it to imaginations from there, do you think I would let him sink himself in expenses?
July 8th, 2009 @1:02 pm
…oh great..another “straight from the gut” blog post about how someone is making millions from our network. You can too, sign up for our network. I guess I just fell in to your # 2 from above “He doesnt post or read shit on forums. Seriously, this is THE #1 downfall or thing that kills productivity. The amount of disinformation on the net is ridiculous”.
I’ll never get that 5 minutes back.
July 8th, 2009 @1:10 pm
You probably wont amount to much of a marketer either. So in exchange for your stupidity on reading a title that obviously led you into a post that you already knew would make you whine like a bitch, you wasted 30 seconds of my life. We are almost even.
July 9th, 2009 @8:10 am
i just want to say ya ruck you are giving good info for a new startup to get a second millinior within this month,
c2m rocks
July 10th, 2009 @6:29 am
A true baller for sure.
July 10th, 2009 @6:30 am
…And from the 5th Point in your post, I can safely assume that he’s banking from rebills
July 13th, 2009 @6:30 am
Ruck,
If I wanted to start TODAY, and be your next C2M millionaire, what steps would I need to take to become like this guy?
I know I have the drive, but I need guidance.
July 26th, 2009 @1:33 pm
quit being so needy and expecting anyone to tell you how to do it or help you do it.
figure out a way of doing it yourself, do it better than everyone else and have the balls to take it further than you ever expected to.
its pretty simple in its utter complexity.
been meaning to join c2m for a while, i think i will now

I’ve printed out this post and hang it in my office where I’ve read it the first thing every day last 5 days like an “affirmation.” This was the post that finally made me join the PPC world seriously and hang up a low profit “greyish black cap seo stuff.”
My team and I just joined your network and look forward toward reaching milestones like these. It’s an honor to work with such high performers.
