C2M has added another conversation and assistance tool. Sometimes you can only handle so many IM’s, PM’s, emails and phonecalls. Often times a lot of what is said or given out could have been done in mass fashion and saved us as well as publishers a lot of time. For the time being we would like to introduce an IRC channel that will allow to stay logged in all the time and be updated with C2M news, changes, offer info and of course marketing tips!

All you need to do is download a copy of mIRC. It has a trial version but dont worry, you dont ever have to buy it. It is of course like $20 or something after the trial and I would suggest getting it to support them but it is not necessary. If you are unfamiliar with IRC then there is an excellent tutorial you can read here. If you still have problems, holler at me or your affiliate manager on AIM and we will help ya get setup. After you are setup just type in #c2m into channels and join.

This is an excellent opportunity to have a constant stream of contact. New offers come in all the time and new methods of marketing are always popping up. We hope that by having a chatroom such as this, you as a publisher get the advantage of using all this before the competition. It’s Saturday so I will be in and out of the room thru the day. Peace.

If you’re using a mac i’d suggest the freeware program Colloquy, you can find it as well as a bunch of diff plugins, skins and scripts for free at their website: http://colloquy.info

It’s a lot easier to setup compared to your first install/setup of mirc on a pc (well duh, it’s a mac), but the downside is it lacks some of the more advanced features that other irc applications have…. BUT, if you’re only going on irc for channels like #c2m or #cakes, then really you don’t need anything more than just a client… and colloquy is by far the easiest (and i think the best) for mac. If you’re handy with CSS you can easily create your own skin/layout for how it looks and everything can be manipulated with applescript (if you’re the applescript-coding-type). Just follow the download instructions from the site, then under the “Window” menu select the “CONNECTIONS” option. This is typically already open on your first install, but just in case it isn’t now u know where to find it.

To connect to the Convert2Media irc channel, hit the button that says “New” in the box that opened up after you selected “Connections.” Just pick a username for yourself (it can be anything… i.e. makemonies), leave the “Server Protocol” setting at what should be the default (“IRC” – if for some strange reason it is anything else, use the drop down menu to select IRC) and then type in irc.freenode.net next to where it says “Chat Server.” Check the box that says “Remember this connection” so that it’ll save all your info for the next time you open the application and hit connect. Once there just type in (in the text box at the bottom of the screen that will open up after hitting connect):
    /join #c2m

Now you’re in the C2M irc channel on irc.freenode.net! To chat just type in the text box at the bottom of the box that opened after you typed the /join #c2m command. You should be able to see your comments posted to the channel as well as anything said by anyone else.
